Today our Omega 7/8 students engaged in a fun pick Today our Omega 7/8 students engaged in a fun pickling experiment. Students researched pickle recipes and then created recipes of their own. These recipes were used to pickle cucumbers as a control and then to pickle other items of their choosing. Some recipes including very interesting ingredients, such as Sour Patch Kids, root beer, and hot sauce! This learning experience had them fully immersed in the scientific method and collaborative problem-solving.

Essential to the adolescent years, our middle school program ensures that student autonomy is nurtured, student passions are celebrated, and young people are reinforced in their own ability to work through difficulty and challenge. This culture of guided independence is strengthened by the depth of relationship fostered between the students and their teachers.

#Rainbow families and teachers spent Tuesday and W #Rainbow families and teachers spent Tuesday and Wednesday of this week engaged in one of our favorite traditions to partner with families... the Listening Conference.

As our families sit down with us at a listening conference, our teachers inherently create a space of “presence and pause.” We open with some type of provocation, usually centering the child, maybe a little breathwork, and really naming that this is the time for the family to share all of the ways that their child’s light is being brought into this universe, the way that they hope their child will grow, the way they hope their child will be honored. This is a time in which our teachers listen deeply.

Episode 11 of our Kaleidoscope video podcast is all about engaging in the practice of deep listening. Check it out and remember to download the companion PDF resource! (Links to our blog can be found on our website and in our social media bios)
