First grade should still be a time when learning i First grade should still be a time when learning is inspired through play and hands-on engagement. Our program ensures that students grow a strong and meaningful relationship to inquiry, wonder, and a love of learning as they matriculate from early childhood into their elementary years. We still have a few spots available to welcome your rising first grader for the 26-27 school year!

At Rainbow, students in grades 3-8 embark on overn At Rainbow, students in grades 3-8 embark on overnight class trips towards the end of the school year. These experiences offer opportunities for academic learning, social connection, and personal growth. This year, Omega 7/8 students embarked on a four day trip to Atlanta and Birmingham as an extension of their studies about civics and the Civil Rights movement.

Led by our friend (and former Equity Director) Danae Aicher with @culturevalue_deib, students began their experience at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights (@civilandhumanrights) in Atlanta. There they engaged in several meaningful interactive exhibits including a room of shoes that were donated by real people who have experienced some form of oppression: escaping a war-torn country, police brutality, discrimination. As students chose a pair of shoes, they were given a listening device to hear the owner of the shoes tell their story. In their own words. In their own voice. This captured the attention of so many of the students, they were eventually all crowded into the room engulfed in the stories.

Students were also challenged to consider their ethical footprint, what kind of world they wish to build, and what type of change maker they may be.

Stay tuned for future posts about this impactful learning experience!

It's Throwback Thursday! Did you know that Rainbow It's Throwback Thursday! Did you know that Rainbow used to hold an annual spring carnival? Spring Carnival offered an opportunity for seasonal costumes, fair games, good food, and great community connections. Sound familiar? This event was eventually moved to October and became what we now know and love as our Halloween Harvest Hoedown!
