Can you make a Thanksgiving meal for $50?

Today our fifth graders were challenged to do just that! They poured over sales pages from four different grocery stores to compare prices and create a menu to fit their hypothetical budgets of just $50, applying math skills that can be used in daily life.

Tactile matching games are more than just a fun activity. They support children in building concentration and observation skills as they learn to discriminate between subtle differences in texture. The experience of using tactile experiences to create matching pairs also lays important groundwork for later abstract thinking.
