Have you ever made your own drawing pigments with natural materials?

Our fourth graders have! As part of their archaeology unit, our fourth grade students explored the art of early civilizations. They collected nuts, leaves, berries, and bits of burnt wood to create pigments and practiced drawing on vertical surfaces with sticks and other natural implements.

Who doesn't love playing in the snow?!

Students of all ages were reveling in the appearance of snow on our campus today and the cold didn't keep our littlest learners from enjoying their time outside. Rainbow preschoolers regularly learn and play outdoors in sun, rain, and snow... offering them opportunities for a wide range of experiences in the natural domain.

How many beans will grow from one seed?

Our third graders have been learning about Mesopotamian farming practices along the Tigris-Euphrates river valley as part of their Cradle of Civilization and Creation Myths unit. They have planted bean seeds, as Mesopotamian farmers would, and made predictions about how many beans they will grow from a single seed. This simple activity incorporates social studies, science (observing how beans grow and forming hypotheses), and math (with opportunities to count, add, and chart their results).
