Christopher Arbor – Omega 7/8 Lead Teacher

Christopher was caught in Rainbow Community School’s orbit years ago when his eldest daughter began kindergarten. Ever since then, the highlight of his day was taking his girls to school, and the lowlight of his day was leaving them there. In the fall of 2023, Christopher joyfully joined the Rainbow Community faculty, bringing with him two decades of teaching experience focusing on holistic, experiential, student-driven education.

After graduating from UNC-Asheville back in 2002, Christopher did a one-year stint with AmeriCorps, splitting his time between Asheville High and the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club. He then spent six years teaching at The Outdoor Academy, focusing on outdoor education and place-based nature writing.

For thirteen years, Christopher taught at Asheville School where he spear-headed the sophomore level humanities curriculum, a team-taught, interdisciplinary course that focused not only on history and literature but also art, architecture, philosophy, religion, music, and cuisine. While not in the classroom, Christopher tended to the two-hundred acres of woods, taught students how to roll kayaks in the pool, and coached the wrestling team.

When not working, Christopher can be found reading, writing, running, biking, swimming, climbing trees, brewing, building, knitting, and other such verbs.
