Barbara Roether

Barbara Roether – Fourth Grade Lead Teacher

Barbara Roether, a transplant from San Francisco, is an educator and a writer, with more than 18 years of experience teaching in schools here and abroad. Her experience includes teaching college and high school as well as fourth grade!

Much of Barbara’s teaching career was spent as a Montessori guide for upper elementary and middle school students. She loves curriculum development, especially place-based learning, and has created locally focused curricula for schools in Tokyo, Bali, and ‘Silicon Valley’, California. As a young person Barbara spent time studying Buddhism in India and she continues to try to pursue a path of service and inquiry. She is the founding editor for Wet Cement Press.

Barbara has completed work in community agriculture, non-violent communication, and shadow puppetry, among other random topics. You can sometimes catch her reading or hosting readings with the Asheville literary community.
