Graham Carson – Green Door Preschool Lead Teacher

Graham Carson, recently relocated (returned) to Western NC after a long time in Denver, CO, where he worked as a lead teacher at Denver Cooperative Preschool and Montview Community Preschool, served on the board of directors, and served as a mentor teacher to college students in Denver. Before that, he lived in Brooklyn and Manhattan where he created two different cooperative schools from the ground up, serving as founder, director and lead teacher. In prior years he was a lead teacher in Boulder, CO, and an after-school teacher for ages 5-11 in Atlanta, GA, where he grew up and went to college. He relishes professional development opportunities. Suffice it to say, education is his passion and life’s work.

Graham spent his childhood splitting time between Atlanta and Franklin, NC, and is over the moon about being back in NC. He and his German Shorthaired Pointer, Ripley, love the Asheville area. Graham is a lifelong learner; he truly believes that we all have the capacity to be curious throughout every phase of life and need to cultivate that sentiment. He believes that as social creatures, the social-emotional aspect of life is essential and he brings that to his classroom every day. He believes that as spiritual creatures, connecting with the self and the natural world is exceedingly important. He also loves to laugh, have fun, eat good food and enjoy life. He is a curious, creative human and loves to explore through tinkering, using loose parts and extending learning through deep, emergent curriculum.
