Laura Dinwiddie

Laura Dinwiddie – Second Grade Assistant Teacher

Laura has learned alongside children most of her adult life. She has experience in elementary education and has worked in both traditional and non-traditional learning environments. Her teaching experience varies from rural multi-age classrooms in Vermont, a community school on the Caribbean island of St. John, a public charter school in Asheville, to a village school in Southern India. Additionally, she began and ran a Waldorf-inspired farm and forest program, and most importantly, she celebrates her time with her three young boys.

Laura has always been inspired by the innate sense of wonder and curiosity that we each bring into the world and feels honored to nurture that within children. She believes in helping to foster connection in children: connection to nature, connection to community, and connection to the spark within. She is in awe of the lifelong journey of learning and discovery, and is humbled by how much she learns alongside children.

Laura is also a farmer and homesteader, having recently spent four years tending land in the jungles of Puerto Rico with her family, growing organic fruits and vegetables. When not at school, she is most likely working in her garden, hiking in the forest, singing songs, or sharing good food with good people. She is delighted to be a part of the Rainbow School Community!
