Check out the numerous ways in which our preschoolers have been learning with pumpkins!

They worked on measuring and estimation by guessing which ribbon will wrap around a pumpkin.

They washed, cut open, and scooped out pumpkins to discover and learn about the various parts: skin, fibrous strands, stem, ribs, seeds, and pulp! Then the preschoolers experimented with each of the parts to determine if they sink or float.

They used observational skills to paint still-life pictures of pumpkins. They built their fine motor strength and hand-eye coordination by hammering golf tees into pumpkins (this was a favorite activity!).

Our preschoolers are also building their science skills and vocabulary through a pumpkin decay observation. They learned the word "hypothesis" and made predictions about what will happen to their pumpkin over time. So far, their observations include great descriptors such as “soft”, “bumpy”, “cold and warm”, “smells good”, and “wet”.

These pumpkins have a lot of learning experiences to offer and they certainly do bring us a lot of joy to boot!

Saturday was our annual Halloween Harvest Hoedown and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! Joy was evident all around our festivities... from face painting, to the wishing well, food vendors, musicians, and the haunted walk. We hold deep appreciation for our Parent Council, community volunteers, and our local business donors who all helped to make this event possible. Our kindergarten and fourth grade reading buddies

Our kindergarten and fourth grade reading buddies took a field trip to the Botanical Gardens to spend the day immersed in nature. We love witnessing the bonds that these sweet classes are forming with one another - so sweet!
