Seventh and eighth graders are learning about cell

Seventh and eighth graders are learning about cell biology! Students began investigating cell theory through the use of interactive notebooks, where they created a popup timeline of the history and discovery of microscopes and cells. This week students are learning how to use microscopes, beginning with looking at everyday objects like hair, glue, and eraser tips. Next they will compare and contrast plant and animal cells and dive deeper into the cell and its organelles.

The Omega Middle School program engages the Rainbow Seven Domains™ of Learning with the advanced needs of the adolescent at the heart. Classroom learning does more than increase in complexity of content, it ensures meaning and purpose are infused in the student experience increasing internal motivation and empowering the students as partners in their learning. The holistic curriculum engages the diversity of skills needed to thrive into the high school years and beyond.

How would you describe a dill pickle?

Second graders are learning how to conduct experiments and record them in their science journals. Their first experiment was to identify an object, in this case, a dill pickle. They did some research to learn what the five senses are and then used their senses to record observations about the pickles using adjectives to describe their observations through each of the senses before writing a conclusion with a very descriptive sentence about a pickle.
