Janie grew up in Richmond, VA, where she developed a passion for teaching and art. Janie is passionate about creative learning, social-emotional development, and creating a nurturing classroom community for her students and their families. She believes in following every child’s lead by observing and incorporating their interests into classroom materials.

Janie enjoys engaging in professional development to broaden her teaching scope and to find support for students’ varying needs. She believes in inclusive practices that make the classroom an equitable space. Janie was a lead teacher in a Montessori environment from 2024-2026 and is excited to continue her teaching journey with Rainbow Community School.

In her free time, Janie enjoys quilting, bookbinding, and exploring her West Asheville neighborhood.
