Jodie Williams – Blue Door Preschool Assistant

Jodie Williams grew up in the mountains of Roanoke, Virginia, with her family that valued outdoor adventures such as hiking, biking, kayaking, and canoeing. She began her career in early childhood education after moving to Richmond, Virginia, where she started her first preschool teaching position. Since then, she has continued to dedicate herself to the field.

In 2016, Jodie relocated to West Asheville, where she has continued her work as a preschool teacher. She is passionate about outdoor education and especially enjoys helping children learn how to grow and nurture plants from seeds. One of her favorite parts of teaching is watching the joy and creativity children express during open-ended art experiences, where they explore a variety of materials to make their own unique projects.

In 2020, Jodie was honored as Henderson County’s GONAPSACC Teacher of the Year for her innovative integration of gardening into the classroom. Her approach allowed children to grow organic food and experience the full cycle of planting, tending, and enjoying their own harvest.

Jodie is thrilled to be a part of Rainbow Community School. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading, photography, hiking, and gardening. She can also often be found snuggled up with her two beloved cats, Minerva and Matilda.
