John Compton is a science educator who enjoys helping students explore how the world works through hands-on, curiosity-driven learning. He has experience teaching both middle and high school students and designing interdisciplinary, project-based learning that connects science to real-world systems and environmental questions.

John’s classroom blends lab work, outdoor exploration, creative problem-solving, and student-driven investigation. He enjoys helping students ask questions, experiment, document their thinking, and build their own understanding of the world around them.

Coming to Asheville from the Southwest, John is excited to join the Rainbow Community School community and contribute to its commitment to whole-child, experiential learning.

Outside the classroom, John enjoys creative technology projects, immersive theater, circus arts, and board games, and is always interested in connecting learning with creativity and storytelling.
