Zoe Balaconis – Omega 7/8 Lead Teacher
Zoe is proud to be a part of the Omega Middle School team. She is inspired to contribute to a program that supports the critical balance of autonomy and guidance needed in adolescence. She loves that middle schoolers are both light and heavy — they can jump from the silly to the profound in an instant. She takes writing seriously and crafts projects that push students to look inward and out for inspiration. She believes in the power of the written word to expand minds, teach empathy, recast language, and make connections across time and space. She tries to pass on that belief to her classes.
Before coming to Rainbow, Zoe spent several years growing high school minds at Buckingham Browne & Nichols in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While in Boston she also taught courses at Boston University. Earlier in her career, she worked in Hawaii and California teaching writing and developing curriculum.
When she’s not teaching, she’s usually doing something in the water, riding her bike, laughing with her family, smelling books, or daydreaming.
