Sarah Callahan – Fourth Grade Assistant Teacher
Sarah feels right at home at RCS! After several years of traveling and working behind the scenes for a local college readiness program, she was not only thrilled to be back in the classroom but also honored to be a part of such a special learning space.
Education and Experience
Sarah received a degree in Psychology in 2010, with a specialization in developmental disabilities and human services. She worked as a Case Manager in Massachusetts and then transitioned into the field of education, serving as a Lead Teacher at preschools in Arizona and San Diego. She also taught Spanish at the preschool level and enjoys connecting with her Guatemalan roots though cooking, volunteering abroad, playing marimba and spending time with family!
While living in Denver in 2014, Sarah fell in love with yoga and completed a 200hr YTT. She has since completed trainings in Restorative Yoga and Children’s Yoga. These physical movements, along with mindfulness and meditation tools, are something she appreciates being able to incorporate into the daily routine here at Rainbow.
Along the way, Sarah has spent many summers working at outdoor educational camps in various roles. She is grounded in nature and loves to see the magic of learning come alive in this domain. She eventually worked her way into staffing these programs and became an HR Analyst for several years. Consulting and helping people find the right professional match, is something she still enjoys.
In her free time, Sarah loves spending time with friends, meeting with her book club, practicing guitar, traveling abroad, volunteering, writing and playing with her 4-legged best friend. She is forever grateful to have found the beautiful community that is RCS. It is the warm welcoming arms of her fellow teachers, administration, students and parents – that make her love coming to work every day!
