Rainbow Mountain parent, Steven White, recently produced a video for the Bob Moog Foundation. The Foundation’s MoogLab project is in the running to win a $250k grant from Pepsi Co. “MoogLab brings electronic instruments like Theremins and synthesizers into underserved schools to teach children the science of sound, to inspire their own creativity and desire to innovate, and to forge connections between their classroom learning and fun, real-life applications.” The foundation is based in Asheville and the video features Summit Jaffe, a recent Rainbow grad, and Rainbow 3rd graders Bronwyn and Elijah. Visit Pepsi Refresh Project to learn more and vote.
The two projects with the most votes by the end of the month will be awarded the grant. Anyone can vote once a day during that time.

Congratulations to Rainbow Mountain 8th grade student, Conor Stuart-Roe. After a rigorous application process, Conor Stuart-Roe has been chosen for the prestigious Headmaster’s Award at Christ School, a boy’s boarding prep school in South Asheville, where he will be attending high school. Conor is an exceptionally gifted scholar. He will graduate from Rainbow with high school credit in Algebra 1, Algebra II, and Geometry, as well as accomplishments other subjects. He has been in the Duke Gifted and Talented program since sixth grade. The application process for the Headmaster’s Award involved multiple steps including essay, interviews, and panel discussions. All of the finalists for the awards showed high academic promise, but Conor really stood out from the crowd when it came to discussions. Typical of students who have been educated at Rainbow, Conor displayed confidence and mature communication skills. He contributed to discussions more than the other finalists and had quality, profound remarks. Congratulations, Conor! We are very proud of you!
Welcome to spring at Rainbow Community School! It’s a time of joyful activity, like overnight field trips and lots of celebrations and feasts. For teachers this can be a bitter…
They held a food drive so that families in the area would have food during the Thanksgiving holiday.
What a food drive it was!
The entire school participated and brought in so much food, here’s what West, our 3rd grade teacher reported:
The pantry at children first went from being almost from almost entirely empty to so full that we had to stop unloading boxes!
Indeed! Rainbow Community School and the 3rd graders delivered enough food to feed over 200 children.
Thank you to the Rainbow Community for helping us with this project. We were moved when we found out that 1 in 2 children in public school in the city of Ashevilledo not have enough to eat. Rainbow Community School is definitely committed to helping make a difference right here in our Asheville community.
