Join us in celebrating each class as they graduate into their next year of learning and growing! We are especially excited to hear our 8th graders present their Graduation Talks to the Rainbow Community. Many of our 8th graders have been at Rainbow since preschool and all of them will have inspiring stories to tell of how they came of age right here within this transformative community of educators, parents, friends, mentors, counselors, family, and changemakers.
All students will need to arrive around 6:00 pm. The ceremony will start at 6:30 pm in the front yard.
After the ceremony, we will gather for treats and celebration out on the Rainbow Community School playground!

Join us in the Rainbow Community Center to witness our youngest little Rainbows step into their new realm of learning. Our graduation gathering will be followed by a picnic in the outdoor classroom. All are welcome to celebrate the leaps and bounds our Turtles and Dragonflies have taken this past year. They are emerging from this year of Preschool confident in themselves and their relationships, ready to talk about their feelings and activate their dreams.
Please note that the picnic is B.Y.O.L. (Bring Your Own Lunch!)

Join Rainbow in a city wide effort to strive not to drive for a solid week from May 15 through May 22nd. Instead of driving to work, school, community meetings, the grocery store or the gym, for example, try taking the bus, walking, carpooling with friends, or biking!
You will be rewarded for your efforts on May 18th from 8am to 9am with coffee and treats right on Haywood Road. Stop by on your way to work! Omega Middle School students will be hosting a commuter station at 574 Haywood Rd to treat people who are walking or commuting via bike, bus, or carpool!
There will be coffee from Firestorm Books & Coffee, snacks from West End Bakery and West Village Market & Deli as well as a bike maintenance station from Asheville Street & Dirt.
Come on over to chat, secure your caffeine for the morning, nourish your body, and build community!

Check out this interview with Dan Siegel on the psychology and sociology of our environment. At Rainbow I often stress that helping students cultivate a deep and personal relationship with the natural world is our only hope of saving it, as they will only protect what they love. Dan Siegel shares that same sentiment adding the notion of “mwe.” When we learn to see ourselves as integrally connected to all things and to one another, we will end the destruction of our time and begin taking care of one another and the planet that sustains us. It all begins with love.
