Changing the Odds Conference 2015

Changing the Odds Conference 2015

IMG_1367RCS Curriculum & Professional Development Coordinator, West Willmore, is in Dallas, Texas this week as a participant in the 2015 Changing the Odds Conference.

This 4th annual Changing the Odds conference, is a unique and dynamic event that convenes the nation’s top thought leaders in education and mental health, all united by a commitment to help kids achieve their full potential. This year’s theme, “Chaos to Connection,” stresses the importance of safe relationships — the foundation of strong social emotional health — and how the attuned, connected parent-child relationship is where it all begins. West and other participants are exploring innovative solutions that help kids build and repair social emotional health creating a long-term path for success.

Parent Council

Parent Council is also highlighted in the current edition of PTO Today for their idea to sell Green Picnic Kits at school events in effort to minimize our impact on the environment!

“The Parent Council at Rainbow Community School in Asheville, N.C., prioritized the environment by creating “green” food service kits. Contained in a nylon string backpack, each kit has plates, cups, and flatware. Families purchase the kits and bring them to events, reducing the need for disposable food service items at potlucks, picnics, and school celebrations.” – PTO Today, September 2015
